Rocky dropped out of school after 9th grade and then stayed in the streets of Philadelphia. He had fought 64 fights by this time, winning 44 and losing 20. Rocky is proud that he had never broke his nose in a professional fight until he meet 'Apollo Creed' which was a split decision and he lost the fight.

His Big Breakthrough
His first major breakthrough was when the current heavy weight champion 'Apollo Creed' wanted to give a local fighter in Philadelphia a chance to win his heavy weight title. After some debate Apollo Creed chose Rocky Balboa. Micky Goldmill agreed to train Rocky for the big fight. On January 1st 1976 the fight had took place at the Philadelphia Spectrum, Rocky went the distance with Creed lasting the whole 15 rounds, which had never been done before with Apollo. But Apollo Creed won by split decision.
